Trends in consumption and production of agricultural and food products

Food consumption growth will be seen mainly in the developing countries (due to population growth and improved diet).

The main growth in agricultural production will also be seen in the developing countries (expansion of cultivated land, increased yields due to the quality of seeds and  improved agricultural techniques, the development of storage and processing technologies, as well as due to decrease of government regulation that limits yields).

In developed countries, food consumption and production will remain roughly flat, however there will be a shift to healthier diet and sustainable farming/production.  On the emerging markets, the cost of production may be lower than that on the developed markets:

–Capital costs for machinery, equipment, construction do not differ much in developed and emerging markets (except for the cost of land), usually the difference  comes from the cost of transportation + import duties.

–Operating costs can vary significantly due to the cost of raw materials, energy, water, labor, logistics.
